This place will be a home, and although it will not solve major issues like world hunger or poverty in one afternoon, it can be a start. Usually, that’s all it takes. Once you take one step in the right direction, your next steps can’t be wrong. So this home will be a place where people can rest and chat. Drink a glass of lemonade or a cup of tea or hot chocolate. Read a book. Learn how to cook something. Or just feel free to feel welcomed into a warm home. Sometimes that’s all people need.
The home will have a prayer room where you will be able to learn more about practicing your faith as well as learning the faiths of others. The space will be one where other people from other religions will be open enough to teach you about their religions and not feel chastised for doing so. This room will be a place for openness, communication and love which is how religion was intended to be and how the god of your choice would want it to be.
The home will have classes where you can actually learn what your supposed to learn. There will be no syllabi, just classes based on what’s pertinent. Let’s say you’re having trouble with your apartment and you don’t know your rights. There will be someone from an association to give you the ins and outs of that. Not just a bunch of paperwork that “explains everything”. If you’ve had a loved one in the hospital and don’t know how the hospital works, professionals and freelance medical people will be there to talk about that. Whatever you want to know, there will be a person to talk to and learn from. You just have to ask.
There will be greenhouses filled with fruits and vegetables promoting sustainability and organic foods.
There will be land further promoting sustainability in all it’s facets: Wind, Solar, Geothermal etc.
There will be a library of books and information equipped with a reading room where people can meet and read or discuss topics or just take a break and find a good book.
This home is your home, your friend’s home, your family’s home…it’s our home. Finally. A home for us.
